A Little This and That

Today I have a few things I want to share with you.

First, the Winter Issue of Milieu is out and I really think this issue was put together with me in mind.  OK, OK, I wasn’t actually consulted, but if I was – this would be my dream issue.   First, there is story on Mimmi O’Connell, the Italian born designer who now makes London’s chic Eaton Square her home.  I’ve been in LOVE with Mimmi’s eclectic style for years and years and she was sweet enough to send me photographs of her apartment when I first started the blog.  In the Winter Issue, Milieu visits her gorgeous townhouse and the photographs are wonderful.

This is just a small portion of her large reception room.   Just look at those Chinese chairs!  And those blue and white vases!  And the 18th century side tables.  I love the new linen from Claremont that covers her upholstered chairs and the unique way she handles the cushions.   She is such a stickler for symmetry.

Mimmi is massively talented – she combines English interiors with furniture and interiors from the Far East in the most unique way.   She uses simple ticking stripes in different colorways, often in the same room, and mixes them with antique elm and rattan furniture from China and Japan.  Red and black are often her accent colors.

The photographs in Milieu are fabulous, as is the story.

Another fabulous story is this house by Shannon Bowers which is located on a wooded lakeside lot. It was completely renovated.  In this room – the focal point becomes the newly placed beautiful antique mantel.  I’m obsessed with the assortment of chairs here.    The house is all about texture mixed with white walls and linens and antique tables and chairs.   Bowers has such a great eye and it’s an education to study her projects and contemplate her choices.  I learn more from photographs of her work than I did in college.

There’s more -  including a spread on a house in New Orleans by my personal favorite Gerrie Bremermann.  There’s a mirror above a fireplace that is beyond gorgeous.  And the dining room, with its art filled walls, is my favorite room in the house.

On the Milieu web site – Pam Pierce invites us into her house to see how her family celebrates Christmas.  That tree!  I love it!!!!

Pierce’s fireplace decorated for the holidays – all green and white.  No red, thank you very much.

Her dining room.  Those roses.  Love the plain corner tree.

I don’t think we’ve seen her staircase before?

And, now for the big news:
